Ouran High School Host Club Review

When you first see this show, you think it looks like crap. Well, if you’re some macho man or a boyish girl, then yeah, this show is crap. But to the yaoi fans, bishonen lovers, and people who love cute things, this show COULD be your favorite show.

We first meet Haruhi Fujioka. A normal girl who is smart enough to get into the rich academy of Ouran. She, dressed a bit boyish, wanders around the school looking for a place to read. She then stumbles across (-CASCADE OF FLOWERS-) the Ouran High School Host Club, a club where handsome boys entertain the ladies of the school.

Haruhi knocks over an expensive vase after being shocked by the club, and in turn is forced to work for the Host Club. The hosts think she is a boy and they are in for a big surprise. After a makeover and a few mishaps here and there, Tamaki (the Host Club king) soon find out Haruhi is a girl. (Even thought the entire Host Club knew it already)

This show take every cliche it can get.

The handsome men. The snobby king. The vice president who’s behind everything. The sexually-questionable twins. The cute shota. The silent guy. And the boy (who’s really a girl) who finds himself caught up in it all.

Personally, I wanted to cry at the end of the last episode. I have no idea why, for it wasn’t even sad.

Story: C+ (this show is slice-of-life AND it has a plot. The combination -when put with a story about a Host Club- isn’t the best)

Characters: A+ (OHSHC probably has the best cast of characters EVAH! No two are the same.)

Animation: B- (too many sparkles)

Music: A+++ (i’m a moderate fan of classical music, so this show is the BEST! every semi-sensitive scene has beautiful soundtrack)

Overall: A-

Update on My Life

Well.

I forgot what week this anime is.

But my YouTube account has been going great! I have 22 subscribers! ^^

I have too many projects going on. I have to make an english version of the awesome song “Hello Windows”…which has led me to want to do my own dojinshi called “Hello Windows”. Seriously. That’s very stupid.

Anyway, I’ve been SO bored, I put a request video on my YouTube. What can I say?

I recently did a cover of the song “Wash My Blood” by Luka Megurine. IT WAS AWESOME~ I rarely messed up! Only four times. (yes, i counted) The only part I didn’t like was the screaming. I sound like a confused person rather than an aggrivated banshee (which was what i was going for).

I know that no one is probably following my blog. But if you are, YOU ARE AWESOME! Because God knows that it must take some serious patience to follow a blog that only has posts once a month.

I promise to do better.

On the other hand, I got my cosplay group together. It consists of me, my sis Hika-chan, my onii-chan (who isn’t related to me), my onee-chan (who, again isn’t related to me), and another girl. Our first meetup is May 8th, which means I’m missing my choir’s trip to Schilitterbahn. We’re doing Soul Eater. I’m Blair…I was supposed to start on making the hat days ago.

Isn’t it funny that both my onii-chan and my onee-chan are both un-related to me AND they’re both younger than me.

Still. At least, I THOUGHT my onee-chan was older than me. Turns out she was two years younger than me. Oh well.

Okay. I’m redoing the Top 10 VOCALOID Songs. I’m probably gonna end up doing like Top 30 or something… -_-

My anime watching is so far failing. I watched 2 episodes of Cardcaptor Sakura, about 19 episodes of Axis Powers Hetalia, and only 1 episode of Code Geass (which is AWESOME, by the way).

Here’s To Me!!!

I haven’t posted a post in a while. Eh.

Been REALLY BUSY. Last week was Cosplay Day Out and I had so much fun! Went to Border and Half-Price Bookstore yesterday because it was my b-day a while ago. Got 13 issues of shojo beat, 8 manga (including the Dramacon Ultimate Edition), Death Note gel pens, a kawaii notebook, kawaii chopsticks, and a Tokidoki figurine thing-a-ma-bobber! YAYNESS!

The chopsticks were an epic waste of money though. I can’t use them. I’m not sure if I can’t use them because I’m not skilled in the art of chopsticks or my ramen (Instant Ramen Shrimp Flavored, mind you) isn’t meant to be eaten with chopsticks. Boo.

But still. I’m on my laptop with 5 manga next to me…Death Note half-opened. I half expect it to fall off.

So, yeah. Total randomness.

Finished With Air

episode 12 was the ending, episode 13 was a recap.

When she (and you know who I’m talking about) died, I felt tears in my eyes, but I refused to cry. If I was by myself, I would’ve been crying my eyes out, but my mom and sis were in the room.

So, it’s finally over.

Story: B+ (It got a bit confusing with the going back in time stuff, but I got it and it was beautiful.)

Characters: A- (With 3 lovable girls as the main characters, each having their own problems, three side female characters, and the awesome Yukito, I had to give it an A-.)

Animation: A+ (One of the best animations I’ve seen. It all looks so real, yet so non real at the same time. You don’t see a lot of over-exaggerated animation.)

Music: A- (The only reason I gave it a minus was because they used the theme song “Tori no Uta” so many times in a row during the show. Really emotional.)

Overall: A-

YAY! I recommend you all watch Air if you want a heart-breaking anime!!!

Watching Air Episodes 6-11

OMG! Saw episode 11 and…I actually cried at the end. If you’ve seen it, you’ll know what happens. I mean, seriously. As soon as Misuzu said what she said, my eyes got wet and I started crying…

I liked it and everything, but it got confusing. Did Yukito die and come back as the crow or… and why did the show us the two episodes of, like, 500 (?) years ago? I’ll Wikipedia it when I’m done. I already know what’s gonna happen…sadly, thanks to a certain video on YouTube…

So yeah. Awesomeness.

Watching “Air” – Episode 2-5

Sorry, I haven’t been writing lately…

Anyway, I watched 4 episodes of Air this week…it’s so sad!!!

Okay, at first I thought that Kano girl (that is her name right? The only names I can keep straight is Misuzu, Haruko, and Yukito) was the center of the story, but when she tried to kill herself and came back, I knew that was over. So about now the story’s focusing on that shy girl (Tono?) and that loud little girl.

I wish I could say more, but I really can’t. I love the animation, but the stories kind of confusing.

Today Kinda Sucked

It started after lunch and at the end of choir. Even though we sounded PERFECT on “Old Joe Clark” (one of our UIL songs), we were late for our next class. On the way to my next class (Library Aide), there was a fire drill. -_-

I had to stand outside from 2:35 to 3:17 WITH my binder in my arm! Not only that, I had to be forced to stand near Little 7th Grade Leonardo…

And once we got back inside, me and the other library aide had to bring a cart to two classes on the whole other side of the school. When we finally got back, it was almost time to go.

So to make it clear, I was on my feet from about 2: 28 to 3:35. I FINALLY got to sit down after school waiting for my dad to pick me up. And on top of that, I accidentally gave my fundraising stuff to my friend Tiffany so I couldn’t get the librarian to buy anything.

No camera for me…yet.

AND when I decided to practice the dance to “Miku Miku Ni Shite Ageru”, my mp3 player turned off. (Tip to y’all: Don’t buy a $15 mp3 player from Kroger and expect for it to perform like an iPod.)

VIC!!! ALL FANGIRLS UNITE!!!

I was just really bored, so I decided to do a post on Vic Mignogna.

He was the first VA I ever really started liking. I look for his voice in every Funimation anime dub. I first found out about Vic when I watched the English dub of Ouran High School Host Club. Tamaki’s voice made me laugh nonstop. When I looked Ouran up on Wikipedia, I dicovered Vic Mignogna played Tamaki.

I told myself to watch as many animes as I could with Vic in them. I watched Fullmetal Alchemist (the voice really fit him)…and that was really all I wanted to watch. ^^

Then, I saw DN Angel and decided Vic was just plain awesome. I saw a video where he said “All women belong to me” at a con and I went crazy. It was then I realized that I had become a Vic Mignogna fangirl.

Whether he’s playing short Edward Elric, totally awesome Dark Mousy, or concieted Tamaki Suoh, WE LOVE VIC!!!

Top Ten VOCALOID Songs…So Far…

10. Gekokujou

The Kagamine twins declaration of independence! I’m a Miku fan all the way, but I just love this song. I love Len’s little rap. I love the silly lyrics. I love the message. And technically, it’s not ONLY Miku-bashing. It’s all VOCALOIDS they’re putting down. In one PV, they show Meiko and Kaito. Of course, Miku IS their biggest obsticle. After all, there’s a Meiko and Kaito version of “Gekokujou”, yet no Miku version.

Note of wisdom: “Gekokujou” mean “revolution” in Japanese.

9. KOKORO

A seriously sad song if you read the lyrics. Rin plays a robot who was created by a scientist (in “Kokoro Kiseki”, Len is the scientist). The one thing he couldn’t do was give the robot a heart. I kinda get lost after that…but what I come to believe is that Len dies and Rin feels pain in her chest and realizes she now has a heart. Then, the heart grows too big for her and she dies, but not before saying “Thank you, Father”. I’m probably wrong. If you have a better idea of what the story’s about, please leave a comment. But nonetheless, “KOKORO” is a song anyone can enjoy.

Note of wisdom: “KOKORO Kiseki” is Len’s take on the story.

8. Alice Human Sacrifice

A very creepy VOCALOID song. It takes place in 4 Wonderlands and tells the story of 4 Alices (technically 5). The first Alice (MEIKO) is a killer, taken into the forest because of her sins. The second Alice (KAITO) is a singer who uses his voice  to turn his people crazy, until he gets shot. The third Alice (Miku) is a queen who uses her body to decieve people, then sees herself becoming ugly. The fourth Alices (Rin and Len)…well I’m not sure what happened to them, but they now wander their Wonderland. It seems they all are controlled by something known as “The Little Dream”. I guess the dream is to rule Wonderland…?

7. Magnet

I HAD to add this song to the list. It was one of my first VOCALOID songs, and such a sad one. It doesn’t matter what the couple is (MikuxLuka, KaitoxGakupo, RinxLen, etc.), the story always has the same basis: forbidden love. Some are for same-gender relationships, some are for other things. Honestly, my favorites are the Miku and Luka version and the Kaito and Gakupo version.

6. Love is War

A perfect song to bang your head to. It even has head banging in the 3D PV! The tone of this song is understandable. You can’t stand it when you see the one you love in love with another person. It’s horrible. So, Miku makes the point quite clear with the song “Koi no Sensou” meaning “Love is War”.

5. Black Rock Shooter

A Miku Hatsune song that is very emotional-sounding. It tells of a girl named none other than “Black Rock Shooter”. My interpritation (I totally spelled that wrong) is that Miku once met BRS and now BRS is lost and Miku despritely needs to find her. But remember that’s just MY opinion. Most people make the mistake of saying BRS is Miku. Black Rock Shooter just LOOKS like Miku, is all.

Note of wisdom: There will be an anime based on “Black Rock Shooter” coming in April of this year.

4. SPICE!

Len’s song of extreme hotness. Okay, so, in the PV and the song, Len is a total player and has a strange crush on Rin, the one person he can’t have because she’s his sister. This song makes the fangirls go crazy and I love the little bouncy beat in the beginning, so I had to add it.

3. World is Mine

This song PROVES Miku is a total diva. The first lyrics is “Sekai de ichiban o-hime sama” meaning “Number one princess in the world”. A little bit selfish? Miku says not. The whole song, she’s telling her prince that she deserves the best and he needs to treat her that way. She even goes as far to tell him she wants him to come to her on a white horse. It’s a charming song.

2. Last Night, Good Night

This song is so…the only word I can use is awesome. While the high notes make it hard to sing, it’s a beautiful song to listen to. That’s really all I can say about it because the song speaks for itself.

AND THE NUMBER ONE VOCALOID SONG SO FAR IS…

1. Cantarella

The violin at the beginning made me fall in love with this song in the first place. But the more I listened to the words and the message, it was beautiful. Kaito and Miku are in love, but can’t find ways to express it. Kaito hides his face and comes to Miku and…um…you know. -_- Kaito puts Cantarella (the same drug from Romeo and Juliet) in Miku’s drink which makes her fall asleep for a while. When she wakes, they dance. It’s so beautiful and if I ever find a person to cosplay as Kaito, I would want to make a live action PV of this song.
